Las Vegas: What to Do In Sin City

The Las Vegas Strip Is Shutting Down Again (Sort Of) | The Motley Fool

In the dusty, arid landscape of Nevada deserts lay a sprawling city so colourful that it juxtaposes the desolate lands that surround it. I am of course talking about Las Vegas, a sprawling city of neon, betting chips and grandeur. The Las Vegas strip is the most visited tourist attraction in the world and for good reason. Millions of Americans and foreigners seek the strip to take refuge from the mediocrity that plagues their lives – and find solace in its freedom. From the towering monument of the Bellagio to the near-perfect recreation of the Eiffel Tower in Paris Las Vegas, there is always something to see and do in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Stepping out of the plane at McCarran International and you would be greeted with a warm comfortable, Nevadan heat. Staring out of the taxi at the city and you will see a bustling hub of activity on the ground, while every bit of quirky architecture seeks to steal your attention on every corner. The reality is that there is a wealth of option to do in Las Vegas. Most would no doubt be attracted to the Eiffel Tower in hopes of capturing some European excitement. The Tower at Paris Las Vegas stands 165 meters tall, dominating the Vegas skyline. Tourists may pay to go up the tower and stand on the observation deck and see Vegas in all of its glory. Additionally, they may get more of the Parisian experience by visiting replicas of the Arc de Triomphe and La Fontaine des Mers.

It can never be said that there is not anything to do in the City That Never Sleeps. The High Roller – a colossal Ferris wheel that gives another excellent view over Las Vegas – can be accessed from only $27. Had enough of the heights? The Fremont Street Experience offers a wonderful day out to shop for anything and everything. It’s a mall that has an illuminated roof capable of projecting brilliant shapes and colours. Combine that with the retro building signs, carts and kiosks that dot each side of the mall, and a great experience is made – all for the price of $40.

The Strip is the beating heart of Las Vegas and provides the majority of the entertainment of the city. It hosts iconic buildings such as Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Flamingo and many more. It is perhaps most renowned for its popular gambling scene, where millions who fancy their chances on the blackjack table flock to. As great as the Vegas casinos are, there are also great casinos accessible online. A list of these non Gamstop casinos can be found here.

Going outside Vegas also offers a number of experiences that would excite even the most reserved of tourists. Traverse the skies in a hot air balloon or stick closer to the ground and drive across the vast Nevadan desert. Take a slightly longer trip out of town and experience the Grand Canyon, one of America’s greatest landmarks. It’s clear that whatever the person, whatever the mood, in Las Vegas, there is something for everyone.
