Honda’s monkey motorbike is back with a bang

Fuel efficiency, safety, dependability and economy; these are just some of the most outstanding features that are synonymous with Honda automobiles. It is never short of striking models with the new Honda Monkey motorbike being the newest seductive touch on the block. The model strikes a unique balance between luxury and affordability. It is just a confirmation of the efforts Honda is making to achieve a five-fold increase in its bikes sales within its targeted four years.

Looking back at the monkey family, Honda first released its original model in the 1960s, and this was a hit in the market. Fast forward, Honda is reintroducing this striking gem in 2019. It comes to you in two shades, including banana yellow and pearl nebula red. The bike everyone is buzzing about comes loaded with easy-to-get spare parts, which you can purchase at an affordable price from top dealers.

It comes in after the Beetle, the countless Triumph Bonnie retro bikes and the Ducati Scrambler, a sophisticated model about to find a home in thousands of young riders and baby boomer’s hearts. It comes with critical polished details such as chromed-steel fenders, tank emblem and round headlights, all geared towards the high notes of the original two-wheel, but in a more stylish package with a modern tweak. Today, this bike can be bought for a steal of around £3k. While at it, grab CBR900RR Fireblade and CBR1100XX SUPER BLACKBIRD for a fuller package and a better deal.

The monkey comes packed with inverted forks and dual shocks as opposed to the previous models that had a steel backbone frame. It is absolutely an iconic bike that, despite drawing heavily from the original, complements modern-day touches such as the LCD instruments, USD forks, IMU-based ABS and LED lighting, among others. Its 125cc engine, which is air-cooled, gives a 6.5kW power with a weight of approximately 107kg. What’s more, the monkey has chrome details, and with the name Monkey inscribed on its side, it’s a fancy reason to jump for this model.

It is perhaps after the ground breaking success of the MSX125 that the run-around Monkey was reintroduced. When the Grom was released five years ago, many did not think it was going to be a hit in the market, which was until a lot of riders endeared it over other models. This was when Benelli and Kawasaki took advantage of the opportunity only to make huge sales out of what was previously considered a bad riders’ choice. As such, Honda expects the Monkey to also gain popularity in the market. The easy-to-ride Monkey’s 775mm height of the seat is way higher than that of the Grom. The bike uses rear and the front disc brakes and has a single channel, meaning the rear wheel can be locked up.

When it comes to engines, nobody can match Honda. Despite the Monkey being compact, it comes loaded with a four-speed transmission, fully transistorised ignition and absolute high-performance. This latest model is brutally effective, reliable and viciously fast.
