In this article, we will give the aspirants a roadmap to MBBS/BDS admission after NEET 2019.
What is NEET?
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test(NEET) is the national level examination to be conducted by National Testing Agency(NTA) from the year 2019. It is the only national-level medical entrance examination through which students can get admissions into MBBS/BDS programmes offered throughout various government and private medical colleges in the country.
NEET has taken over all other medical examinations like AIPMT and state medical entrance examination. Therefore, for those who want to become a doctor, NEET 2019 is their stepping stone to the target.
Estimation of NEET Score
NEET 2019 is one of the toughest steps for aspirants, which follows is the fruit of their labour and hard work. After the paper it is natural to keep thinking about the score they will get or the rank they will secure.
Earlier CBSE used to release NEET Answer key to help candidates toestimate their score. As NEET is now conducted online by NTA, no official answer key will be released for NEET 2019. This means candidates will have to wait till the release of NEET 2019 result to know how they performed in the examination.
What after NEET 2019 Result?
As per the schedule released by NTA, NEET 2019 Results are expected to be released on June 5, 2019, along with the merit list of the students qualified for the counselling process.
After the announcement of the results, Medical Counselling Committee(MCC) and various state counselling authorities will conduct the counselling process separately. Only those candidates who qualify NEET 2019 by scoring the minimum qualifying percentile are called for counselling of NEET. NTA will have no part in the counselling process of NEET 2019.
NEET Cut Off
NTA will release NEET 2019 Cut off. The top 15% in the merit list based on the cut off will be directly elected to participate in NEET counselling process under All India Quota seats.NEET Merit List and rank range for participation in All India Quota counselling will be declared separately based on NEET Cutoff.

Merit List
NEET 2019 merit list under All India Quota seats will be prepared by NTE on the basis of score obtained in NEET 2019. NEET Merit list under All India quota will have as many students as there are seats available for allotment in MBBS/BDS/AYUSH courses under All India Quota.
The State merit list will be prepared by the respective authorities for the rest 85% of the seats.
Counselling
NEET Counselling process is the final and the most important step after NEET exam. After the declaration of the NEET 2019 Result and Cut off, the qualified candidates will have to participate in NEET 2019 Counselling in order to get admissions in different medical and dental institutions.
NEET Counselling will be divided into All India Quota and State Level Quota Counselling. The All India Quota Counselling is carried out by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) while State Counselling will be conducted by the respective state exam authority under the guidance of MCC.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will conduct the NEET 2019 Counselling for 15% of seats on behalf of MCC for the following categories:
All India Quota (AIQ) seats in all government medical and dental colleges in India(except Jammu and Kashmir); All seats in Deemed and Central universities; Seats reserved in IP quota in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges; and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune.
NEET counselling for the remaining 85 percent State Quota seats(100 percent in case of Jammu and Kashmir) in government medical and dental colleges and seats in other private and self-financing institutions in all states will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities.
As a procedure, MCC will declare the number of available seats before each round of NEET counselling. There will be two rounds of counselling for state government colleges and three rounds of counselling for deemed and central universities.
